We all know that many banks in Bahrain offer reward programs for their credit card holders. So, whenever you use your credit card for a certain amount you start to earn reward (or loyalty) points which you can redeem – as cashback, as vouchers, against purchases etc. You could even donate your points to charity!
But, all these programs are limited to credit cards and credit card spends.
Are there are programs that offer reward points for non-credit card transactions?
How, would it be if you are able to get reward transactions for routine banking transactions and not credit card spends?
We are talking about making fund transfers, paying your bills, applying for cheque books etc.

Some banks in Bahrain have started to wise up! You can now start to earn reward points for banking digitally while staying safe at home!
We will take a look at two of such programs –
Ahli United Bank's (AUB) eRewards program
- This promotional campaign commenced on the 15th of January 2020 and ends on the 12th of July 2020.
- AUB's customers can earn 10 eReward points by registering for Internet/mobile banking and 1 point for each of the following transaction types – Internal transfers, Fawri/Fawri+ transfers, credit card payments, cheque book applications, adding internal transfer beneficiaries, adding Fawri/Fawri+ beneficiaries etc.
- Only one point can be earned for each transaction type every month regardless of the number of such transactions executed during the month.
- This promotion offers 12 prizes monthly in addition to 16 prizes in the last month totaling 76 winners!
- Every month one winner gets BD 500 and the other winners get BD 100 – all in the form of MyHassad Savings Certificates!
- A total of BD 10,000 is on offer through this promotion!
National Bank of Bahrain's (NBB) "Stay Home" promotion
- NBB's "Stay Home" promotion enables its customers to win prizes including iPhone 11 Pro Max or a MacBook Pro!
- If you are an NBB customer, you can earn chances by completing certain types of transactions using NBB's mobile banking app or its Internet banking.
- For instance –
- Registering for NBB's digital banking (which is free) gives you one chance.
- Every international money transfer with a minimum of BD 100 earns you one chance.
- Every Fawri or Fawri+ fund transfer of a minimum of BD 50 earns you one chance.
- Making a Fawateer bill payment of a minimum of BD 10 earns you one chance.
- And, the great thing is that there are no limits on maximum number of such eligible transactions!
- Launched in April 2020, this promotion awards two lucky winners iPhone 11 Pro Max devices every month and a grand prize of an Apple MacBook Pro in August 2020!
